getting duplicate text message notifications?

I was having the same problem when i loaded handcent. Turn the notifications off for the SMS app you are not using. I opened the sms app that came with the phone and went to settings>notifications and turned them off.
 
Yeah that's what I did. Hey, so if we use handecent or Chomp for secondary SMS, can you have a program like ATK, Taskiller or Taskpanel kill any "messages" app without causing problems? Would it affect the messaging app widget?
