Getting frustrated over Android games....

When I saw this game for IOS on Engadget:

YouTube - Real Racing 2 HD - 1080p Video Out Demo

I was really sour, because I bought a Samsung galaxy s two weeks ago! I've heard that android fans say that the games "will" come. But what the hell... it's been several years now and it has a few nice games (Cordy, Gun Bros., Asphalt 6, etc.).

It's not very fun to be an android consumer, when you hear you have to keep waiting for new games, and that "it will get better". I can promise you that the premium games (ie games with nice graphics and gameplay) are not coming to Android until 2015.

Will we ever get such games as the one I linked to? All games have been ported to Anroid from IOS is inferior in everything!

Do not misunderstand me now, I love the Android. I think that much about Android is better than IOS to my mind, such as customizing the phone. But the apps and stuff sucks, unfortunately.

That's why I picked me up a ipod bro! For me it was order and chaos. So sick of ios getting all these good games and android getting sloppy seconds or jack shoot! I love my android but wish there were more games. Hopefully it will get better!

Fast Five for Android coming to android this month at the same time as ios version

Ya, if Gameloft continues releasing games for multiple platforms at the same time like this, we will start seeing alot more games for Android (especially with them porting over old titles at the same time).

I have to agree with the op. My brother has an iPod touch and it seriously makes me jealous. He has games like Real Racing 2, Plants vs zombies, tiny wings, and a ton more.

Sure Gameloft is releasing some great 3d games but i still refuse to buy any as long as they're not in the market.

This are just starting for Android games wise, you already notice more and more releases coming to Android and in some cases even a release at the same time with the iOS release. Already have tons of great games i play so im not worried at all to be honest.

Well gameloft said they may release thier games on the amazon market which would be great. I have to admit though I love my android but it lacks in good 3D gaming. Order and chaos comming to ios is making me sick. I hope gameloft will make it available to android cuase I am not getting an ipad just to play it. If games dont start comming to android this year I would seriously consider changing phones.

It's no different if it comes to the Amazon market because you're still only allowed one download of the game. Also the market is not available outside the US.

Also, why doesn't Google weed out the crappy apps? When you to the top lists, like 20% is puzzle crap and wallpapers etc. Google is famous for their great algorithms right?

I think most of the crappy apps got ads, and thats why they don't weed them out.

To find great games, you must go scroll down many times to get to the quality games now and then.

What do you think?

There are more than enough good games out for Android, at one point I had around 40 games on my Galaxy S, I havent finished them all yet, the rate games are being released is fast enough.

Would be nice to have more but it's not something I'm concerned about to be honest.

Where does it say you are only allowed one download of the game? Not only have I downloaded and installed my Gameloft games several times from their market, but I have done that with apps I have gotten in the Amazon store as well.

Well i can't test to see if it's true, but i read it here:

Gameloft confirmed it themselves.

edit: ok my mistake, you can redownload more than once on a specific device, but not across devices. Still a deal breaker unfortunately.

I don't think it's that they are crap apps because they have ads. I think it is because most people either want to try a light or ad supported app before throwing down a few bucks for the real thing therefor more people are downloading ad supported apps. I've noticed that more often than not when I search for something, if there are similar titles the app that has been downloaded more will come up first.

Then don't complain about the lack of games. Android Market sucks for developers.

The OS is fine, Android has the marketshare. It has the OEM's with lots of high end phones. But the market is dragging everything down.

Two questions:
1. How can you promise this? Some insider info?
2. Assuming you know this as fact, why did you spring for a new Android device recently?

We are getting beefier hardware coming in this next round of phones. Devs would be foolish not to cash in on this. They might not, this is true, but now that we have the cpu/gpu combos to support nicer games coming to practically every carrier, I wouldn't sweat it. That said, current devices are going to be left in the dust I am afraid.

the xperia play is coming out and everyone who buys one is a gamer. That's exactly what game developers want to see. I think that will bring many games to android, though new games will probably come out for xperia play first.

some of the games i had on my iphone and tried on my android were a big disapointment. Not sure why the games never match up to the ios version, I was always told android was better. some of the racing games look 90's ish, and no where near as real looking, they look almost cartoonish the graphics just don't seem to be there. The weather channel app for android is also missing features iphone has and that was a real dissapointment too, and the list is long for a host of other apps.

how does the market suck for devs? I thought it was better than apples app store and google was much more lenient for devs, is there something we don't know about the market?

Apple is the evil party and google is the stupid party. Unfortunately, evil often triumphs over stupidity.

Apple bans all kinds of innovative apps but if you do get accepted, you can make a lot of money. Android market is sort of like a flea market where you can find valuable antiques if you look hard enough but they are usually buried under a pile of an old gypsy woman's used panties.

Because video games aren't a top priority for Android. Most people that need these phones are adults. I guess kiddies get Android phones too - but people who use Android as a PDA far outweighs the kids that get their parents to buy them one to play video games.

If you want video games, I suggest getting an xbox. Or a psp, etc.

Sorry kids =/ It's a phone/PDA first and foremost.

OK so where is Cisco VPN and strong MS Outlook support?
Google's priority seems to be for ad-supported fluff, not real games or apps.

The console emulators work really well on my device. Try them out. I don't know if you guys are as long in the tooth as me but the PS1/PSX had some awesome games. Currently when I get some time to kill I play Zelda from the N64, one of the greatest games of all time.
I know these haven't been specifically designed for android. I agree with the OP that it would be better if more games were getting created but the emulators work and the quality of the games is fantastic.

Funny that you say long in the tooth and then mention PS1 games LOL
Try more like C64, Amiga emulators that is long in the tooth

My priority was: amazing phone with amazing customization and amazing features. A high-end android phone beat out iOS hands down.

Gaming is a secondary priority... and while it's still pretty disappointing, I'm willing to take what I can get for now. It's like being a PC gamer and watching all the consoles get really great, PS3\XBOX exclusive titles. It sucks, but I prefer my PC for most of my gaming needs.

The current options are to:
1. Get over it.
2. Get out.

If you can't be satisfied with what is on offer, pick one of those. The Android Market has improved by leaps and bound over the last year and is only getting better. If that isn't good enough for you see option 2.
