Getting group messages and shouldnt

Okay I have had a Tmobile LG My Touch phone for 2 years now .This past month twice I got what appears to be a group message and looks like younger kids. It starts out are you going to game tonite its JV and Varsity .Second person responds I gotta ask my dad. Then others respond yes they are going .This all happens in my text messaging program .It shows phone numbers not names of who is texting . How is this happening and is there a app too block it

It's happening because someone put your phone number into one of their groups. Since it's a legitimate text as far as the system is concerned, no app can block it unless you block all the numbers the texts are coming from (which is trivial with any call blocker app).
