Getting Low Quality Photos on S4

Can anyone explain why my S4 (T Mobile) is producing such low-quality photos? I do have the 13MP setting turned on ... as I know this has been an issue.

However, after taking what I thought would be gorgeous outdoor photos, I upload on to my computer only to find very basic quality. They look the same as my Samsung Admire. I haven't played around with any of the various Shooting modes -- just the default one.

Has anyone noticed the same thing? Any suggestions? Thank you.

Is your issue with color, focus, or resolution?

Maybe a dumb suggestion, but have you taken off the plastic covering?

Ha. I had it on for a couple of weeks before I noticed the plastic.

Also, clear the lens of dust and smudge residue. You can probably use a clean cloth to do so (something that won't produce lint).
