if your contacts are synced with google, you just need to sign into google and they will be back on yer phone after the update

Get MyBackup from the Market. It will back-up your texts, most of your apps and your home screen set-up and stuff.

i tried for a couple hours on my laptop .... vista 32 .... still would not go through.... than i said screw it went to my tower.. xp sp3.. took 3 min and it was done

I updated mine on Friday on Win 7 64-bit. Only issue I had was I had after downloading the file was to run it as a XP SP3 file. After that I just followed the directions and everything went smooth.
