Root getting rid of sprints proxy server

does anyone know a way to redirect proxy server so it doesnt go through sprints thus making faster internet for our phones and does it actually work? i think this increases 3g speeds since its going straight to the internet and not through a proxy
 
1. get your MSL
2. Enter this into your phone: ##3282#
3. Select "Edit Mode"
4. Select "Advanced"
5. Scroll down until your find "RTSP/HTTP Setting"
6. Delete the RTSP proxy IP or change it to 0.0.0.0
7. Change RTSP proxy Port to 0
8. Delete the HTTP proxy IP or change it to 0.0.0.0
9. Change the HTTP proxy port to 0

is this the correct way?

i think this is the way i havnt tried it atm but im soon gonna and probaly be a good idea to write down and save the old info incase u need to revert back to it if something goes wrong
