Getting s-off effect the rom?

Will gaining s-off effect the Rom? I know backups are suggested for any venture you do, and it.may effect sd card. But how will the Rom be effected if any?

i think there is very little chance of any permanent damage to your phone, as well as even wiping your phone. consider the likely worst case scenario to be you fry whatever sd card you use during the s-off process. DO NOT use a valuable sd card.

however, if youre getting s-off, i assume it is for a reason. many of those reasons include a factory reset eventually anyway. fairly sure flashing new hboot and radios will ask you to wipe data when you log into your recovery next.
 
Soff didn't have any negative effects for me. Took about 8 or so tries to get it, but it didn't mess up my sdcard or anything on the phone.

Just use a spare sd card and set aside an extra hour or so just in case it takes you forever to get the wire trick right. And from what I've been reading sometimes it will look like you've bricked your phone if you don't get successful s-off but there are commands you can type to fix it. (didn't happen to me but giving you fair warning)

It does. But you make a nandroid in advance. So boot into recovery, wipe everything, then restore the backup.
 
S is for encrypted signature security on some of the storage partitions as controlled by the bootloader.

S-on means that security is on, s-off means that it isn
