Root Getting started

Hi!
I just picked up a Sprint one of these to replace a larger, dying phone I no longer cared for. Trying to figure out where to start with what I want to do on this thing!

1) Phone seems to come with a lot of bloatware. Some things I like (quickmemo is actually REALLY cool!), other things I don't (Visual Voice Mail is really annoying!). I see there are some ROMs that claim to remove bloatware, but it looks like they also remove some of the things I DO like. Is there an in-between? Like, a stock-ish rom that lets you re-install the parts you want? I'm assuming no because I'd have seen it, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

2) The free storage is super annoying. I know other Android 4+ devices with only 4GB (1GB free) have methods to swap internal with external for storage and the like. Is there a guide to do that for this device, and does it slow down the phone since SD card access speeds are slower than internal memory?

3) Is the accelorometer on this thing weird? I tried some of those Google VR / Cardboard style apps that use the accelerometer to update your view in real time like a heads-up-display, and they don't seem to work at all, really. I tried Google Sky Map as well, which does something similar, and I noticed the view sort of jumps all over the place rather than smoothly scrolling as I move the phone around. Does it not support all the axis or something like that? Its not a deal breaker, but something I would have liked to know before I bought this phone I guess.

That's it for now, I guess. Thanks guys!

Whoops, I meant to paste this in the non-root general forum. Can a mod move it for me? Sorry about that!

Ha, that is the most helpful sentence (without or without a period at the end) that I've seen all day! ;) Thank you, good sir!

I saw reference to stump, but then didn't see it listed as a supported handset in that thread. Thanks for confirming I'm in the right place!
Once rooted, I intend to install the swap mod, and honestly I'm OK with the stock rom (at least for now). Any recommendations to remove bloat? Use the quarantine feature of Titanium or something? I mostly want to tell VVM to take a hike. :)
