Getting the best performance from Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade)

Hi all,

My girlfriend has an Orange San Francisco, and since installing a custom firmware onto it (2.2 I believe) it's been a really great phone for the money.

However, I've noticed it's a little slow at times, in particular it's quite laggy when playing certain games. I guess there's no way around it since the CPU is pretty slow, but is there anyway to get better performance from it? Shutting off certain services and the like?

(edit) Also, and this is an even bigger long shot, can anyone recommend a good camera, or image processing app that makes the pictures taken using the camera look a bit less crappy?

Thanks

Wow, thank you guys so much - the two camera apps look fantastic (QuickPic seems to have an interface more similar to my iPhone's which I have to say is probably a bit simpler/nicer than the default Android one) and being able to overclock the CPU would be incredible, hopefully it'll work okay.

(I know the battery life will be reduced a little, but is it significant? Also is it harmful to the phone?)

It can be significant to battery performance, and clocked to the suggestion above has not been known to be harmful.

Battery life can be extended quite a bit if you start to delve into what she does & does not need running in the background, but it all depends on what your gf really wants/needs from her phone, constant wifi network searching? constant app updating in the background? There are lots of ways to reduce battery consumption, but you will both learn this on your journey into learning what it can & cannot do and what is important & not important. There is no 1 answer, just the answer that suits her needs :)
