I am almost positive I have all the settings correct, but the edge lighting does not work. Does anyone have a solution? I did Google it, and it looks like it is a problem for a lot of s8 owners.

I have found that it does work for Snapchat, but so far for me that is the only thing it works for...
Frankly I think it only works for Samsung's own proprietary included apps, and some apps that might specifically support it, like Snapchat.

It looks like this feature is mostly compatible with Samsung apps. For example, try the Samsung messaging app, and you'll see it works fine. Other apps are hit or miss. If I set the Edge Lighting to "Always", there are a few apps that will work only when the screen is on, such as facebook. But a lot of them aren't working when the screen is off. I use Google's messaging app, and it only will display for me when the screen is on.
