I have started getting some notifications suddenly on my HTC one S, tmobile.
I get almost 20-30 notifications in one shot which has some links like:

market://details?id = .......

Icons in front of these notifications is like mail Icon.
These links are for different games. As soon as I click on any one of these, I am redirected to play store for that Game.
It never happened before and started suddenly from yesterday & happens 3-4 times a day. Did I accidentally changed some settings?

More likely you installed some app which is now feeding you intrusive ads. These are supposed to be banned from the Play Store now, but these people will presumably keep trying (and if you installed apps from somewhere else, who knows).

A couple of things you could try:

1) long-press (press and hold) the notification. You should get a pop-up "app info", and selecting this should tell you which app is producing the notification.

2) install AddOns Detector or Lookout Ad Network Detector. Scan the phone with them and try to find apps using stuff like "push notifications". They are likely to be the cause.

If you can trace the source to a user app (as opposed to one built in to the phone), uninstalling the app should stop this. If it comes up as something you can't uninstall, or something you think is really unlikely to be adware, post again telling us what you found and we'll see where that takes us.
