Root Getting YouTube to work on the latest CM 7.2

Last week I updated CM 7.2 to the latest (unofficial) build, June 16th, to be found at http://code.google.com/p/cm7-wildfire-s/downloads/list and found out that YouTube didn't work, either on the browser or the app.

Anyway I came across the following thread on XDA by eoghan2t7: [Kernel][CM7]Speed Mod - Version 1 uploaded - xda-developers
and one of the posts on there said that he got YouTube to work on the latest CM7.2 build by flashing this kernel, so I thought I'd give it a go. It works!

All you have to do to flash this kernel is to place the zip file on your sd card, and install the zip from there. Once installed reboot the phone and try YouTube. No need to wipe anything, takes seconds.

Don't forget to hit 'Thanks' on eoghan2t7s thread if it helps you, too.

The kernel is nice and fast, too!

I also did this last week & it is working great but I am noticing battery drain seems worse. I am experimenting with different gov & scheduler settings to see if I can improve it.

I'd be interested to know what Antutu benchmark score you get using this combo. Best I've got is 1880 @ 806 o/c which is disappointing.

Mine is just under 1800. I have never been able to get above 1800 with CM7. When running sense roms I was getting just under 2000. I have had a bit of trouble with some of the governers not working. When on powersave it just locked it to the min cpu speed & the phone was almost unusable.

I am using smoothass & sio at the moment - seems to be a good compromise between performance and battery life. It will be interesting to see how the kernel update performs - it should be out in a couple of days. Anyway I'm happy because my phone is better than it's ever been, and not so long ago I wanted to chuck it out of the windows - rooting it was a great decision :)
