Ghana Orders the Arrest of All Homosexuals

So they are being arrested. Are they being charged with something? I am aware their legal system is probably very different there, but this sounds less like arrest and more like throwing homosexuals into camps.

Most often, in oppressive societies, the arrest of homosexuals is under a pretext of something like "sodomy."
 
The last line of the article is particularly ominous. What DO they plan on doing once all the gays are rounded up? Throw them in prisons? Work camps? Gas chambers? Traveling theatre troupes?
 
I guess what they want is people to not "act" gay, since if you just look normal you will probably not be bothered. Either way this is quite shocking.
 
I didn't mean to imply that people who are gay are not normal, just that if you don't do anything out of the ordinary you probably will not be bothered. Normal was a bad choice of words, though.

Late replying since I just discovered this political section. A lot of countries have laws against "immoral behavior" that they use to persecute gays. They don't need to have a specific statute to charge them. They may even be able to get a "disorderly conduct" charge.

 Just change some of the names and similar rhetoric can be heard in the US.
 
It is a gotcha law. Laws like this where created to remove anyone from society they feel is a threat to them. You can not say they are a poltical threat, so they just label them gay, jewish, christian, islamic or what you will to get rid of them.

The germans did it to the jews. The spanish did it to the christians. We do it to the islamic people. They are doing it to the gay people.
 
They tried to pass a law making being gay a crime punishable by the death penalty. There was a lot of global outrage though and I don't think it happened. This doesn't look good at all. What a bigoted, disgusting country.

That was Uganda, not Ghana. And the law is probably going to be passed sometime in this parliament. Nobody cares anymore though. The media already beat it to death, and people lost interest.
