I'm still experimenting with taking pictures and I noticed today when I was taking a picture of a hummingbird at my feeder that some of the pictures came back as a GIF and playback is animated? I didn't plan on doing that but is there a way to do it on purpose? I also held down the shutter to do a burst but that's different.

That's actually a feature of Google Photos. It works in the background to automatically create animations if you shoot a bunch of pictures of the same scene, but you can also do that manually:

On your computer:

1. Go to photos.google.com.
2. Point to a photo and click Select
   
   .
3. Select other photos you want to include.
4. At the top right, click Create
   
   .
5. Choose Animation or Collage.

On your phone:

1. Open the Google Photos app
   
   .
2. Touch and hold a photo to select it, then select any other photos.
3. At the top right, tap Create
   
   .
4. Choose Animation or Collage.
