I installed gingerbread keyboard and when I selected to use it as my keyboard I got a message about it being able to record my passwords and credit card numbers.should i be concerned about this?

That's Androids build in security. It will say that about any keyboard installed.

Having said that, if you found Joe Shmoe's copy on the internet...it could be a concern.

It depends where you got the keyboard from...
