Help Gingerbread 2.3.3 in India!

Gingerbread 2.3.3 is now available via Kies! The entire update process took less than 10 minutes and absolutely no data was erased. All contact information and applications installed were restored automatically!

Ran the Quadrant Standard benchmark a couple of times and got scores of 973 and 992. The performance seems a bit smoother than 2.2. Hopefully the phone won't hang anymore!

I've also posted in the Indian thread but it's a bit tedious to navigate to the last page so thought I'd create a new thread itself.

I also did the update to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and I did notice a performance boost and a new app for downloads. But a few apps are missing ,like Daily Briefing , Mini Diary , News and weather... Did you also notice these apps missing? Any idea how can i get Daily Briefing back?

I actually did not have the Daily Briefing, Downloads and News & Weather apps in the first place. After the upgrade, I still have the Mini Diary app (think it was there with Froyo also, not sure though) and I have the downloads app. No Daily Briefing though. I tried to search the Android Market for the DB app but no luck there either..

Thanks. In that case I'll have to look for alternate apps which will show stock rates and weather. BTW the app does not show up in Samsung apps also....maybe because it was a default app in the phone.

I am not able to update to new 2.3.3 via kies but I loaded other europe and Asia version, previously when i had 2.2 FM radio will resume after making or reciving calls, but now when we make calls or receive calls the FM radio doesn;t resume.

Anybody tried this !!!

i hav a problem, my kies update process gets stuck in the upgrading firmware components step for hours.....can u provide any sugggestion.....thz

on checking for firmware upgrade..my Kies still says the same..this device's version cannot be upgraded. no mention of gingerbread upgrade..!!!! :x :x

edit: i installed the latest Kies version 2.0.0.11044_11 available on Samsung website, now it doesn't even my Galaxy S..it just shows "Connecting...." on the left side!! damn u samsung :x
 
Its because ur csc is not set for ur region... I am an indian... So for me its INU... Just google the code for changing csc and then set it for ur country... Then kies wud wrk...
 
Upgraded to Gingerbread a while ago..

Process was smooth..took about 20 minutes, start to end...all data, settings, applications are intact

First impressions on performance are impressive..but they are first impressions only..will watch for couple of days and then post again..
 
I too upgraded my Galaxy S(GT i9000) firmware from 2.2(froyo) to 2.3.3 ( through "Kies") and now find the 'Pinch to Zoom' feature of the built in SMS app missing. Can anyone help?

I'm not sure if you are talking about the display of an individual message on the big black screen but Samsung have disabled this feature in 2.3.3
 
Yes. That's the feature I was talking about. I could read a message even if my spectacles were not handy. Now I've lost that. Any solutions?
