Gingerbread 2.3 - info from GOOGLE

Hahaha - I am done with those wagers.
I was never right when I was guessing for the D1's 2.1 release. 6 months sounds right, but I will be optimistic at 4 months.

I have been waiting for JRummy and Pete to get around to make a ROM for us. I don't think it would be THAT tough to replicate, then tweak DX Roms, but I really don't know.

How bout basically NEVER since we're dealing with Moto here... :P

This? Yeah. This just doesn't add up. Motorola droid started with 2.0 when not many had it, got 2.1 within the first couple months of 2.1 being out and was even one of the first with froyo. Droid 2 was one of the first with froyo preloaded and droid x got it soon after.

So...what were you saying again?

We are saying that the Nexus phones get monster updates first, then the rest follow. If the DX and D2 don't get it at the same time, the DX will get it first, then the D2.

You obviously haven't had to wade through months of rumors to get "worthwhile" update -- I have

Having had the headache that was the droid eris, I can say with a clinched fist I have. As much as it sucks, waiting a couple months through a 2 year contract for a major update isn't enough for me to lose sleep over it.

Gentlemen and Gentleladies, be nice.

As for 2.3 in the D2, I'm thinking 6 months is a good estimate if you want to wait for a OTA from VZW/MOTO. Probably 4 months or so for a home-cooked ROM that's stable enough to use on a D2.

Nexus phones are google dev phones, of course it's gonna get everything first.

Gingerbread on a D2/D2Global: I think I read somewhere around February. So if things go well, we should have it on our phones by the end of March. And we'll be here to gripe about blur and the stuff that didn't get fixed or broken in Gingerbread! ;)

So my guess was right.. Around 3 months.

I think I was righter saying 4 months. Beginning of december to end of march is 4 months :D
LMAO, J/K

In reality, we will probably have 2.3 ROM components much much sooner. Devs will start ripping it apart and adding choice pieces to our ROMs.
This is speaking from past experience.

Well, the rumor I heard from a Verizon Rep. is that the iPhone for Verizon maybe here in July. If I have to wait for the Gingerbread Man to arrive some time next year, I am better off with the iPhone rumor.
