Help Gingerbread and odin

Hi everybody!
I need some help...

I have a Chinese galaxy s, with hebrew locale installed. I understood that Hebrew on android may cause problems. In order to get rid of the whole hebrew thing, I wanted to upgrade to gingerbread (2.3.4)
I'm working with a windows 7 laptop, no kIes I stalled.
When the phone is on, there are no communication problems with the laptop.
once I get it into download mode, the computer recognizes that there's something there, but can't make any connection (and makes a sad sound). Obviously, the Odin won't recognize the phone as well. I tried it with the sim card in and out, all turns out the same. Anybody knows what might help???

Thanks anyway
Li

In order for Odin to recognise the phone and communicate with it you will still need to install Kies and it's drivers. Once installed make sure that it's not running in the background when trying to connect with Odin.

Ray.

Instead of downloading the full Kies, you can also find and download Samsung Android Driver only which is about 19-20Mb only.

Kies will keep popping up each time you connect your phone to your PC.
