Gingerbread Browser Question

I have updated my phone to Gingerbread. On the old Froyo browser there was an "exit" choice on it's menu. The new browser doesn't have this. I always used this to end a session (I was under the impression it saved battery and when I relaunched the browser it would start on "home"). How do you old Gingerbread users exit the browser?

My Froyo native browser doesnt have an exit button in the menu. Your old browser must have been OEM modified?

FWIW, I use Boat Browser Mini (free in the Market). Long press of the back key gives a true exit, and it's overall the best browser I've liked personally on Android.

Can't help on how to exit the Gingerbread browser on the Commando - my Gingerbread browser is heavily modified by HTC, so that's apples to oranges.

If you consider a browser change, you can choose to make the replacement your default over the stock one, that's a standard Android choice when two of the same thing are installed.

Hope this helps, a little. :)

I don't use the stock browser, I use Opera Mobile, which does have an exit button

If you go to menu you can close active tabs which leaves just bookmarks page open.

I prefer Miren browser, fast and lightweight and also handles RSS feeds nicely.

It doesn't really save battery. When you switch away from the browser, the browser will be suspended and not use any battery. If you end a session, it will actually use up some battery to shut down the session as it takes more processing to end a process than suspending it. Then when you launch the browser again, it will take more processing to start up the session again.
