Gingerbread Delayed for N1...Again?

They said it was coming in the next few weeks back at the end of November, and the beginning of dec something was announced, and now they're saying the same thing.

All they're saying is it's coming, and then don't have a specific time when. Which we all already knew. If they had a set date, or deadline, they'd of announced that Gingerbread will be out on so and so. They clearly don't have a set date, which is probably for the better, and so they're not saying when it's coming officially.

The update doesn't bring much to the average user, so personally I don't really care, but I know how annoying it is to be checking everyday in hope. So my advice, forget about it, you'll hear about it when it comes, and once you get it you'll probably realize a week later that it really wasn't worth the time of checking everyday.

i can't see anything about any "6th january" ...so i suppose it will come out until 31 dec. hope remains ...still

I suppose we just have to monitor this forum until someone yells "I GOT THE UPDATE! I GOT THE UPDATE!" :)

I wouldn't worry too much on that. The froyo OTA update started rolling out 3 weeks AFTER Froyo was officially announced. I expect something similar with Gingerbread.

Well since gingerbread is a xmas themed cookie wouldnt it make a great xmas gift to all n1 owners. Just me being optimistic (naive)

you never know how we will get ginger on the 24th or 25th ,as a gift for xmas :D

I doubt it, just in case there are issues with it, it'll be performed in business hours so they can keep an eye on how its going, not when everyone is off on holiday.

Dear Santa,

I have been a good boy all year and all I want for Christmas is some Gingerbread with a side of net neutrality. Please don't let the greedy corporations ruin the holidays for America.

Your friend,
Nunya Bidnez

I say Gingerbread rolls out to the Nexus starting 12-27. You figure Google held Gingerbread back at the request of Samsung. Not to cripple the Nexus S sales. So I say the first batch or OTA goes out 12-27.

Frustrating, been a long time since we saw footage of the nexus one running an early gingerbread build. You'd think they'd release it to us sooner if it's been developed and tested on our phones anyway :/

Frankly, I doubt they would release it during the holidays for the same reason that the (US) TV networks only show reruns-- no one is paying attention, they are off on Holidays with their families. Yes, I know this is an international forum, but Google generally behaves (for better or for worse) like a US Corporation.

but wouldn't this be a reason for releasing during the holidays to the N1 crowd? The N1 owners are not your typical consumer so they are going to be critical and knit picking the upgrade. You don't want attention to these things and in a sense, you want this group to be vocal but not put out to the general press.

Therefore, they should be giving us N1 users Gingerbread before the start of 2011.

huh, sound good or what? :-)

I still got my Nexus one and all though im good with my S, it still would be cool to see on the n1 and do some comparing

That'll be the first thing I do when it drops too. I'm really curious to see if the performance improvements will show on the Nexus One or if it's more down to the Nexus S hardware. :D

Can't wait to compare the two. Both are awesome phones.

How would it cripple nexus s sales as the n1 is now harder to get hold of?

I'm not 100% sure but I'm assuming he/she meant that a lot of buyers for the NS are N1 owners and they are are waiting to see what Gingerbread looks like on the N1 before purchasing a NS. Those that are not patient may just purchase one anyway. If Gingerbread comes out on N1 too early and ends up looking great on the N1 then many potential NS buyers may just pass.
