Gingerbread Delayed for N1...Again?

hmm..is there another ROM developer that has GB ported to the N1 since I've seen it already ported to the Evo, Hero and some other phones.
 
Stupid auto correct, I meant fully. Yes, many are fine for daily use, but you'll find something like the video recording isnt quite right.
 
Oh, they released it back on Christmas Day but some greedy kid grabbed it all and is still hiding in some corner eating it. :P

But really, yeah, I'm pretty much ready. In the past I've considered just waiting out the OTA but I think I'll do the card install as soon as it is avail.
 
That's a possibility. I am VERY curious, to the point where it's frustrating... but what consoles me is the thought that 2.2.1 is running very well, and I can't say that I NEED to upgrade this instant.
 
You all bought a N1...Root your phones already and put on one of the many gingerbread roms out. Most out are more than stable for daily use. Still dont understand why people bought the best Dev. phone out and dont use it for its intended purpose...

THIS TIMES A MILLION. Flashing a rom isn't going to destroy your phone. Idk why people think that
 
What rusty said! If I'm flashing a rom, I do it because it will make my phone more functional then before, not when it'll lose me important functions. And gingerbread really isn't worth that imo.
That being said, I wouldn't mind google finally releasing 2.3 for us, beginning to feel a bit left out in the cold by now :p

"Most people who own a Nexus One assumed they would have Android 2.3 running on their phone by now. Google employees began tweeting back in December that an over-the-air(OTA) update should arrive in the coming weeks and the official @GoogleNexus account also tweeted that message as recent as January 4th.

When Google released the source code for Android 2.2, an OTA update for the Nexus One was available just six days later. The source code for Android 2.3 was released on December 17th and now a month later people are still patiently waiting.

Now JR Raphael of Computerwold reports that a Google representative told him “there have been no unexpected hurdles and that the rollout should be starting soon.” I just checked our vault and this is the fourth story we have run that says the Nexus One 2.3 update is “coming soon” so I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting.

Even though Google claims there have been no unexpected hurdles, I have to wonder if the random reboot bug found in the Nexus S could be the source of the delay. The Nexus S is the only device that is currently shipping with Android 2.3 and comments from Google suggest that the bug is software based and will be fixed with a future OTA update.

Hopefully Nexus One owners should not have to wait that much longer. There are quite a few custom Android 2.3 ROMs already available, but I know many people just want the stock build from Google.

IMHO ...

Instead of releasing 2.3 on the N1 first and let the community weed out the bugs, they allowed the manipulation from Samsung (the almighty dollar at work) to have their device be the first '2.3 device' when in all actuality it has shot them both in the foot with all the bad publicity its received. An embarrassment really.

Now, ICCL about all the bells and whistles, but a stable phone is essential and The GOOG has dropped the ball with this one.
 
Could be wrong as we really don't know what's happening on the inside.. but I think it's a security thing. The mobile world has changed radically since N1. There are more bad guys out there trying to get access to our personal data. 2.3 is probably such a big open upgrade that google may have underestimated time time required to make it secure.

My phone works fine as is. Give me the goods once it is safe.
