Root gingerbread=faster 3g?

I was just curious to know if gingerbread gave you faster 3g speeds?

The reason why I'm asking this is because I think P3 was saying people were reaching some incredible speeds with the hotspots? If that's true then I'm going to subscribe to it for a couple of months.

Right now I get around 1.4 - 1.6 at highest and .90's @ the lowest.

Thanks guys.

Oh yeah. I'm running 2.3.340 still

hmmmm only thing i have heard of that may have an effect on that is that some people have reported better signal strength which i guess could equate to better hot spot speeds. I haven't used it so personally i don't know.

Yeah I noticed it too. I'm not sure if I'm actually getting better speeds or if it's because I just updated the Speedtest.net app, but I"m getting around 2.4 mbps as opposed to 1.9 on Froyo

Dang. 2.4 from 1.9 is quite a difference... coming from a 3g perspective.

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing it. I'd like to go with gingerbread but the fact that it isn't quite stable enough makes me not want to. Hopefully liberty comes out for it soon.

What has not been stable that you have seen? I have been on it since the first leak and went to the second leak and the build itself has been amazingly stable. I compare it to being better than the best Roms on Froyo.

I know there were some updates that people tried to do that caused problems just because it is a different build, but the stock Gingerbread has been better than custom Froyo for almost everyone that I have seen.

Wireless Tether is more locked down, and from the sounds of it will be going forward with any updates. Outside of that everything is running very good for most people.

On the other note, I would normally get 1.3 down at my office and I just tested and got 1.6, so a nice little increase.

Hmmm. Maybe I should give gingerbread a try then. I'm still a bit skeptic for some reason. Thanks for your input Kev.

Yeah, I tried the throttle hack myself. Didn't do anything. I don't use enough data for it do anything for me. But I can say this official gb release has a good solid 3g and wifi connection.

Just wanted to chime in. Just updated yesterday (was on 2.2 before), and My speeds went from 400-600 at home to hovering around 1k at home. My 3g speeds at work went from .9-1.1k to 1.8-2.2k after the update. These are all download speeds, upload speeds don't seem to have changed a whole lot. I'm pretty impressed so far.
