any idea why my hanset wont update to this from kies?it says no update available.if i unroot and do a factory reset should it?

What version of Android are you on? Key in *#1234# into the phones dialler and please post back the info.
Also, what message are you getting in Kies? It will either say " This is the latest version " or " This version of the device cannot be updated ".
Also, what country are you in?

im on froyo from uk. message says this is the latest version

Which most likely means it is the latest version already for your carrier.

Dont be in too much of a hurry. Mine was better on froyo and better still on eclair.

Vodafone released Gingerbread 2.3.3 in the UK on the 19th May, so you should be able to upgrade to it. First things first though make sure you are running the latest version of Kies. Grab a copy of the latest version from Mobile Phone's Software&Manual SAMSUNG
Just un-install your old version including the drivers and install the version you've just downloaded.

If that doesn't help then post back with the info I asked for in my first reply by typing *#1234# into the phones dialer.

That's why kies isn't offering you an update.
