Root Gingerbread install aborted over CyanogenMod7

I have an unlocked and rooted N1 that was running CyanogenMod 7.0.0 RC2. I had issues with some apps crashing "Forced Close", so I decided to switch back to the stock ROM version 2.2 using the ClockworkMod ROM Manager.

I wanted to update my N1 to Gingerbread, but after downloading the update I get an installation aborted message. See the attached photo.

Does anyone have a work around for this?

I believe you will have to revert back to the stock FroYo 2.2 before you can install 2.3 as it does not install over CM7.

If you downloaded the zip file then please ensure that it was for the N1 and not the Nexus S.
