Help Gingerbread keyboard dictionary help no auto-correct

Hello

I have a Nexus One on Vodafone. It recently updated OTA to Gingerbread 2.3.4.

The new keyboard is driving me crazy:

It doesn't auto-correct.
It doesn't make suggestions.
It doesn't enter full stops for me.
It doesn't auto-capitalise.
It doesn't add punctuation, such as apostrophes.

What is going on, my old keyboard always knew exactly what I was trying to type and just made it right for me!

+1 I have the exact same issue.

I've tried going to settings -> Language and Keyboard -> Android Keyboard -> Input Languages -> select English (Australia). Doesn't change anything.

It is only suggesting words in my custom dictionary.

Have you had had any luck resolving it?

no luck as of yet, and had posted on xda forums days ago. no-one knows!

this bit i have tyoed out from my new keyvoard, my old one woulf have qrote this out perfectly for me and put in pjnctuation!

Many people have had success with installing a third-party keyboard such as the Go keyboard.

Google claims to have fixed this problem with release 2.3.6. If you can upgrade Android to that level, the typing suggestions should be available once again.
