Gingerbread Update - What is New ?

[insekticide]

Hi Everybody,

I connected my Ace to Kies this morning and there is a new Firmware update available (Germany). Before I do this, can someone please help me answer these questions:

1. Which version of Gingerbread is this ?
2. What is new in this version that Gingerbread 2.3.3 does not have ?
3. Can I update through Kies without unrooting my Phone (no custom rom, just root) ?

Thank you very much.

Thanks you. So from what I understand there are just some minor bug fixes and no major changes. I will not update my firmware at the moment since everything works fine just now (2.3.3) and I can't find a root for the updated version yet.

Thank you SashiX for the link to the other thread. I didn't see that one before.

No prob

I will not update my firmware at the moment since everything works fine just now (2.3.3) and I can't find a root for the updated version yet.

Anyway, if you use Ginger (i.e. v2.3.3), you can update to newer Ginger (i.e. v2.3.5). But if you use Froyo, then perhaps you want to keep it on Froyo. Some reports that Froyo runs better. And AFAIK, 2.3.5 is quite better than 2.3.3

Ist there a root out for 2.3.5 yet ?
