Gingerbread vs ICS

I want to know what is the basic diffirence between android 2.3.5 and 4 ...I mean ,I have a SGS having froyo , what extra features I will get from ICS
I short what is the diffirence between the latest version and the old ones
Is, there many diffirences ???....

Wow, where do I start???

There are a LOT of differences.

-For starters ICS completely revamps the appearance and theme - you get a nice cool blue and a new font (Roboto).
-The lockscreen offers a quick link to your camera (lots of manufacturers offer similar but we're just comparing stock vs. stock).
-If you have the Galaxy Nexus device they included your soft buttons in the screen (some say good some don't like) - the value behind this is when you're watching a movie or anything that doesn't require a touch you can utilize the entire screen.
-Hardware acceleration. From what I've read ICS isn't much of an upgrade in this dept vs. 3.x but they said in ICS and HC your graphics processor takes on more of the burden with everyday tasks.
-Data Usage with limits and warnings
-Battery Stats: better reporting and more useful history
-Widgets in App drawer: Now you can see what they look like before you plop em down

These are just a couple things I just came up with off the top of my head and I'm sure there are more. I'll say that having ICS I don't think I could go back to Gingerbread.

What is soft buttons?? .....and the others I understood :D ...Thank u very much :D.
Some said the ICS has increased security level !!!!!?????

I can't speak much about security other than face unlock. I feel that is more gimmicky than anything, but I run my phone without any locks on it (yeah I have Google Wallet too, shame on me!)

Soft buttons - I don't even know if that's their official term, but they are built into the display and change based on what application you are using. They completely disappear when watching a movie or youtube vid allowing you to use the entire screen for the video.

You know how you have four buttons on the bottom of your phone? Menu, Home, Back, and Search - those aren't present in phones built for ICS (Galaxy Nexus is the only one I've seen so far) but they are built into the actual screen instead. This allows for a larger screen (4.65) while keeping the phone about the same size as a 4.3 device.

Oh, another addition to ICS is recent apps. There is a dedicated button (replaces search) that pulls up your recent applications. In ICS it actually shows you what the screen looks like instead of just seeing the icon in Gingerbread. Then you can close that application by swiping it off the screen. This doesn't actually act as a task manager but it does free up the memory in your phone of holding those screens. I use a System App that shows how much ram is available and when I'm swiping those screens off I can see my available ram increase.

Kinda a long winded explanation but that's my experience.

Overall ICS offers a LOT of upgrades v. GB!

Wow !!! ...dats a lot of new stuff :D ....thank you .....Do you know when we will get ICS in SGS 2 ,SGS and other samsung device ????
and is it's true that Samsung galaxy s 3 will have ICS ??.....

My experience has been that 2.3.5 (on my Motorola Electrify) will allow me to use all my email accounts. 4.0, not so much. In 2.3.5, I can enter POP3 and SMTP information. I tried on three different tablets with 4.0 and every time, 4.0 would either change the information or give me an error message. Quite frustrating.

I got a tablet with each, either or is fine, with different loaders, you can make one look like the other. Improvement in useage are more about the internal hardware changes between the two then the OS.

Its not like comparing 2nd gen windows to 4th gen windows OS,

I know that my buetooth keyboard and mouse would not work properly on Froyo when I had my droid x. When I upgraded to GB, it was then they had full functionality.

Actually If software still ran on it, I would still prefer Windows 98 over 7. One time I managed to make it run on a new laptop. Wow was that thing fast!

By the way, my wife has the lg motion, I find it very user unfriendly ... It's running ics.

There's only so many ways to polish a turd! lol

Upgrades are more than likely a prompt to get consumers to buy faster phones when the one that they have is absolutely fine and more than suits their needs.

I personally don't sweat it when an upgrade comes out. If there's no way to flash back to a previous os, then I block the phone from upgrading. :D

my main machine is still windows 2000, I can still do everthing I need.

only just a few month ago did I finally have a need for an upgrade, still shopping around for a deal on a new PC so I can run more of the android dev programs.
