Root Gingerreal installation question :S

So these are the steps for installing gingereal ROM:

1. Flash stock KPH/KPN (GingerBread
bootloaders is the most important)
2. Flash CF-Root 3.7 for Galaxy Ace
3. Download the latest release down here
and put it on your SD-card
4. Boot into recovery mode
5. Install the zip
6. Reboot your device

Is step 2 absolutely nessessary? My galaxy ace is already rooted and has CMW recovery 4.0.0.9...
