So I have this Galaxy SII. When it charges, the power tends to last about a day, which is fine, I can deal with that. However, it doesn't when I plug it into the charger, it doesn't register as charging and the battery seems to drain (liek form 68% to 32%).

If I switch the phone off completely and then plug the cable in, it switches itself on, not to the usual off battery loading thing, but actually completely on, still not charging.

Last night, I managed to get it to charge completely, after it had drained itself to 0%, by plugging it in while drained. It would do the battery symbol while not on, until it had enough power to switch on then it would switch on, which of course drained battery down. So it had to switch off. This would repeat itself until eventually it got more and more power and by morning it had go to 100%.

Now I am trying to charge it again, but it's not working, even though power is clearly getting through as it switches on.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Could be any one of a number of things.

Most likely is an issue with the charger - or the USB cable if the charger has one. Try using a different charger.

Alternatively, it might be a dying battery - your SII could be a couple of years old which makes that a tad more likely. I believe the battery is removable so your best bet would be to borrow a friend's battery and see if it charges without issue.

The other thing it could be is a problem with the phone's USB socket. It's the least likely, which is just as well as the only solution would be to send the phone for repair.
