Accessories glitch for folder shortcut

i placed a folder on my screen named games. when i tried to add apps in it i received an error that there is no more space on my home screen for apps.

i know all my spaces are used up, but i though the point of the folders was to be able to add apps inside it which expands the amount of apps we can keep as shortcuts on our pages. so in order for me to have 10 apps in a folder, i need to have 10 open spaces left on my screens?

You have to click on the folder first and then add the programs to it by hitting the plus sign on the home screen. You can also drag them off the home screen onto the folder or out of the folder onto the home screen. as long as there is enough room.
