Gmail app; labels

Hi, is there a way to control what labels are synced to the Gmail app? I have about 100 different labels in Gmail (I'm very organized), and I think the long sync times are possibly taking a toll on my battery..

You can go into manage labels and choose which labels sync and how many days of mail for that label.

Within gmail press menu, more, settings, select account then scroll down to sync inboxes and labels.

I have them all set to 'Sync none', but they still show up under the Inbox, Sent, etc..? I want all labels except 10 of them to go away.
