Help Gmail app no longer connecting?

Starting yesterday, my HTC Hero no longer connects to the Gmail app, so I can't check email or get notices. When I open it, it just says 'No connection' and has a retry button.

So far, I attempted the retry button, restarting the phone, turning wireless off and on, and force stopping/clearing data on gmail under applications. Still nothing. I've checked, all my other apps work, and my connection is fine for anything else.

Does anyone have suggestions? I have a feeling I may need to try a factory reset to fix it, though I'm hoping I dont.

had the same issue - and i made it work.

go to setting > app manager > app > gmail > clear data.


it clears all you gmail setting such as (signature, sync labels etc') but it solving the problem.
