Help Gmail app not working correctly

At least I don't *think* it's working correctly. When I open my Gmail app, it either shows nothing in 'Conversations'. Yet when I look at 'All Mail', they're there, both read and unread, new and old.

I also have my PC/Outlook collecting mail in my Gmail account but I've left the option to keep messages on the server for 5 days. When I look at my inbox with my browser, there are also NO messages in my Inbox! I assume that's why I get no 'conversations' (silly word) on my Galaxy. But what setting am I missing to make these messages/conversations show up on my phone? Or am I asking the impossible?

Thanks.

I've got three possibilities.
1. Is background data/ auto sync turned on.
2. Open gmail, press menu then refresh
3. Go to phone settings, applications, manage applications, all tab, gmail, clear data

Actually make that 4. If none of the above work check for an update on the market. If there is one you never know it might fix it.

Sorry I just noticed you said they don't show up on your browser either. I would say that means you have a problem with your gmail account or you have no messages.

or another way.

try disabling all the other apps that pull from your email address and just use the one gmail?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I definitely have it set to synch, etc. and as I said, new mail shows in the 'All Mail' list, it just never appears in the 'New Conversations' list. I could kill my Outlook's collection from Gmail, but don't really want to..... I would only have to read my email from my phone if I were away, otherwise it would just have been a convenience.

A little update. I found on my Gmail settings (under POPmail) that I needed to check the option to leave the email on the server. I had already done that on Outlook but evidently needed to also do it under my Gmail settings when looking at it with the browser. So okay....that DOES now leave the mail messages on my Gmail account when I look at it with my browser.

BUT.... when I open the Gmail app, it shows that I have 2 messages in my Inbox. When I open the Inbox, however, it says 'no conversations' although it also says 'Inbox (2)' !!!!!! If I press the settings tab, then Refresh, they appear. Shouldn't it refresh automatically???
