Help Gmail app to access outlook.com email?

kwalla

Well-Known Member
I'm trying to use the Gmail App to access an outlook.com email.

I put in the outlook.com email and password... but then it says "couldn't finish. couldn't open connection to server."

The settings are:
m.hotmail.com
Port:
443
Security:
SSL/TLS

Client Certificate looks like it's none.

These were all the default values... do they need changed?

Thanks!

Try this:

1. Open Gmail, then tap Add account.

2. Enter your Outlook.com email address and password, then tap Manual setup.

3. Under What type of account is this? tap Exchange.

4. ButIf there is a Domain field, leave it blank. If there is a Username field, enter your email address.

5. Enter your password.

6. For Server name enter s.outlook.com.

7. Make sure the Use secure connection (SSL) checkbox is checked, then tap Next.

8. Choose your account options and tap Next.

9. To finish setup, tap Done.

If this doesn't work you might want to try using the Outlook app from the Play store.

I have my Outlook.com account synced for mail, contacts, & calendar.

If you choose an "Exchange" account, I think all the settings are automatic (at least on my Android 5.0 phone). If not, try:

Email address: Your_Address@Outlook.com (or Hotmail.com, or Live.com, or whichever Microsoft email you use.
Domain\username: \Your_Address@Outlook.com
Password: Your password
Server: m.outlook.com (I think)
Use secure SSL: Check
