GMail app

Where are my contacts in GMail when accessed via app?
If I open GMail via the browser, no problems, all my contacts are there albiet, under the keypad but the app gives no clue as to how to display them. The app recognises me and I can perform all other function I need, just no contacts.
Is this the norm?

If you are talking about seeing a virtual "rolodex" like you would in the browser in your gmail app I don't think any version has this. Instead, I think you are supposed to look to your contact list on your phone for this.

Spot on Chan, works great, not as fast as other method and I have to remember my contacts' addresses, well, the first coupla letters. On second thoughts, browser entries only load one at a time and keypad has to be diminished in order to see them so it's much the same.
Again, thanks

Edit.....errrr, how do I add attachments ?????

Found the answer with the help of Google, I only want to add pictures so not concerned with any apps to enable file sending. Another question though, how do I know when the picture has left the phone so I can turn the data connection off/ Had phone sitting near PC and could hear the "grumbling" when phone was transmitting...went on for ages and I won't always have my PC with me in the great outdoors.

If you want an efficient way to search through your contacts, try Gesture Search from Google. You can find it for free in Play.

"Search your Android phone by drawing gestures on the touch screen.
Gesture Search lets you quickly find a contact, a bookmark, an application, or a music track on your device by drawing on the screen. Search results are updated as you add each letter or digit and becomes better by learning from your search history."

Eh... I don't use Gmail app, I don't know it's me but I think gmail mobile (browse though web) actually looks better :)

I don't use email notification either so... I always delete email and gmail apps.

This is off topic but since I have your attention, here goes, My Gmail account is deleting my inbox in my regular (PC) account. Had Gmail account for years (inactive) but since I've had Mr Android I've been experimenting. I cancelled my original Gmail account and problem solved, got a new Gmail account and, yes, inbox is emptied again. I'd like to use Gmail but can't afford to lose messages. I've posted on the Gmail forum too. Any Ideas?
