Gmail calendar - recurring appointments disappeared!

[Eurosteve]

I checked my gmail calendar this afternoon to discover that all of my recurring appointments had disappeared. All of the other appointments were there. I went to the calendar online and all of my appointments were there.

I was able to get back all of my appointments only by clearing the data in settings, then the calendar reloaded.

Any idea what happened here?
