Help Gmail contacts appear in contacts list when sending texts

Evertime I go to send a mass text or pic message i click on the icon of the people and a list of all my contacts shows up. Unfortunately, it also includes a million email addresses of people ive emailed in the past.

Is there anyway to stop gmail contacts from showing up in text message contact lists? ( i already know how to remove gmail contacts from the "people" contact list but that doesnt stop them from showing up in the mass text message contact list.

try this ...
-Go to Gmail on you PC.
-click on the Contacts button.
-look for 'Other Contacts' on the left side.
-delete them all

I do this from time to time and seems to keep my contacts under control.

thanks for your reply! i would do this but i need the contacts for work, i use them all the time when i send email frommy phone...

someone posted on here ages ago how to export them to a vcf file or something crazy like that. Thanks for the advice tho!

In the people app, press Menu > View and uncheck Show auto Gmail contacts

Ya... that only works for the people menu. If you go into text messages and create New, you can click the people icon to select who you want the text or pic message to go to, from there, it shows every single gmail email address.

there doesnt seem to be a people app on my android 2.2.2 LG optimus phone? I would really love to remove my gmail accounts from my phone list...or at least be able to hide them when i make a phone call!
