Help Gmail contacts not syncing

I am not sure if this is suppose to happen or not, but when I was in the store purchasing my phone I was told that my phone contacts would sync with gmail contacts. So far this has not happened. I have over a hundred contacts on my phone and when I go to gmail on my pc it does not have any of my contacts. Am I doing something wrong, or was I misinformed?

You were not misinformed, but it sometimes takes time. I had mine for 2 days before my contacts showed up.
