Gmail Contacts

I have a HTC EVO 4G LTE running 4.0.3. I use the gmail app and have my contacts synced to the phones "people" contact app. I would like to add another of my gmail accounts, but I am afraid to do it because I don't want the contacts from my second account to be added to the phones contact app. Is there some step I should take to assure my secondary gmail accounts contacts stay seperate? If not, I will not add my second account.

When you add your second account make sure the "Sync Contacts" box isn't checked. You can find this under settings->Accounts & Sync->then which ever account you added. You can turn this on/off as you like.
