Help GMail Doesn't Manually Load

I am not sure exactly when this happened but my emails from my gmail accounts don't automatically pull. i have it set up correctly. Its kind of annoying to have to go in and hit refresh if I want email.

I personally have never been able to have Gmail auto-refresh when I open it (as far back as the OG EVO). One work around is to actually turn on "notifications" for said mail account. Below is another possible solution, sadly I just tried it and it did not work for me.

Go to the GMail app -Select It
Find the Hard Menu Key – Press It
Select Accounts
Press the hard menu key again
Select Account Settings
Make Sure the Background Data and Auto-Sync are selected or checked with green check marks
as well as the sync is ON for your account(s) (credit to sethgoldstein)

I have been missing alot of emails (via the GMail app, the standard email works fine) since i got this phone. In Gmail, it wont always notify when I get an email. Other times it does. To make matters worse, some new emails do not even show up in the "in box." I have to select "all mail" to see many of my new emails. very frustrating, especially cuz my Gmail account is my favorite.
