my girlfriend just got the s4 shes coming from an old droid and she uses gmail religiously for work

when composing an email theres attach photo, attach video but no attach document...i know a way around this is to go to the files and hit share then it will attach to a new email

but the issue with using that as a work around is if you want to reply to an email with a document attachment that wont work for that you would need a menu option like photo and video has

the old gmail app on her phone she can just attach whatever her phone wasnt able to update to this gmail version

anyone got any ideas on how to solve this issue

If you have a file browser app installed such as ES File Explorer then just attach either picture or video, and use the file browser option to select the document of interest to attach.

The settings (upper right dotted vertical bar) "About Gmail" allows you to send feedback to the developers if you want to suggest a different way of doing things.

I'm wondering if the gmail app is just hosed. 3 emails sent just vanished no trace at all. Had not had any issues with it till this week and I've been using it for 4 years. On this phone the HTC DNA and the former HTC Incredible. Did they do a update hosing the app?:(

Really? Nothing in the "Sent" folder? Were they to others or yourself, and nobody received them?

I have to wonder if the Android client maintains a transaction log of server responses. Perhaps some app of the "logcat" variety could display the log.

I was sending my brother some info about a event and he did not get any of them. Nothing in sent or drafts. Never had the issue before yesterday. 1 yesterday 2 attempts today. Had to fire up the laptop to email him.

BTW I can receive emails just can not send with the Android gmail app. Yes rebooted and all that.

My brother just let me know all 3 emails just showed up. Now showing in my sent folder. Maybe not the app but something odd with gmail specific?

Hi folks!
I have, for the very first time, a serious problem with the E-Mail-App from Android (G-NT 7100, Android 4.1.2). I have, of course, a google account. I never used the mail adress that is automatically given with that account. But now I just want to use it for very few special occasions and... Can't! The mail-application wont let me setup that account. I looked at the gmail-webpage, which I can enter without any problems, - preferences - and it shows cleary and very specificly how to setup a gmail-account on androids mail-client and tried to do exactly as briefed, but, you already guess it, no success so far. There always comes the failmessage "incorrect username or password". But everything is alright, I checked and rechecked and resetted and retyped a hundred times... nothing. I hack in my username, then my password, click next and: fail! Does that have anything to do with the fact that it is my main android google account? I cannot imagine that, but maybe? Or does anybody else know why this is happening? I think (but didn't try) that it might work with the gmail-app, but I don't want to have TWO mail-apps to check for all my mails. And everybody tells me that it should be done very easily with androids basic mail-application. And in fact I have another gmail-adress and it works fine.
Any ideas?
Thx for your help,

C.

Problem solved! I forgot, that I have activated 2-step-verification! With that activated you cannot simply give in your normal password! Instead you have to create a special passphrase within your profile page in your account! Took me a while to find that out because I didn't read the very tiny link at the side telling me to click if I have 2-step-verification on and cannot gain acces to my account within special apps or devices...
