Gmail - no sync?

Hi
Me and my wife have a problem with synchronizing our gmails. We get no notifications. I have a galaxy s10 and she has a s9. The app is updated and I have checked all the settings but with no luck. Do others also experience this? Is it a problem with the app. Or...?
Thanks

Which email app are both of you using? The default Samsung email app? The Gmail app? A third-party email app?

Also, are your email messages getting automatically synced with your email app and it's just the Notifications issue, or is it a matter where the email apps need to be manually synced to see any new incoming messages?

We use the gmail app.
Normally our mails to each other are synched instantly and we get notifications. But this morning I recieved a notification 6 hours after the mall was sent. Sometimes it works (delayed). Sometimes it don't

Have you done anything else with the phones? I know that clearing data in the Google Play Services app can interfere with GMail notifications for a few days (admittedly that's a pretty obscure thing to do, and especially with 2 phones, but just want to eliminate possibilities).

I have just tried to turn off wifi and now notifications work again??? It only works instantly with mobile data??
I don't understand it because the wifi signal is strong...

Restart your router and your phones. If this problem just started happening recently there's probably just some one-off glitch going on.
If however rebooting everything doesn't help than at least you know this is a real problem and not just a temporary one. Has this been a long-standing issue then? Does it happen when you're just using one WiFi network in particular or does it happen when connecting to any WiFi network?

It seems only to be the home-wifi that has the problem. The wifi on work sends notifications to me.
Everything is restarted at home. How can I troubleshoot...?

OK, given that this sporadic Notifications issue is only limited to your home LAN and that its affecting two different devices that indicates the issue is likely to be with your router.
-- What kind of router do you have? An ISP-supplied modem/router unit or do you have your own, discrete router? If the former, who is your ISP? If the latter, what model router is it?
-- Is distance between either phone and your router a factor when Notifications fail? Do you connect one or both using a 2.4GHz or 5GHz band network? (A very general rule that involves a lot of overlap is a 2.4Ghz band network will have longer effective range, a 5GHz band network more bandwidth.)
-- Is your router physically located in a relatively open spot or is it buried under a desk or something like that? Generally you'll get a better, wider coverage range when it's not tucked in between a bunch of metal file cabinets.

Try installing something like this WiFiAnalyzer (open-source) app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer&hl=en_US
and use it to check your home's WiFi network. It will give you numbers on signal strength so you can walk around your home and get a rough 'heat mapping' on your routers coverage range. It can also give you a better idea on the approximate signal interference from any nearby WiFi networks that could be an issue to address.
