Gmail not downloading on 3G?

Gmail works fine when I'm at home on Wifi but not when I'm out and about using 3G. If I hit refresh it downloads messages but doesn't do it automatically. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

It needs to be set to sync to do that for you. you just need to set it to sync in the sync settings menu

I don't think it is related to wifi.
I have sync problem in the last week, some times I get emails and some times not.
Tried everything!

Thanks, guys. I have already have it set to sync in the Accounts and Sync settings and it is synching OK when connected to Wifi but not when connected to 3G. It's not a recent problem, it's been going on for weeks. I really can't work out what's going on.
