Help Gmail not syncing automatically

is anyone else experiencing a lack of automatic syncing for gmail? I seem to only be getting my new emails delivered to my phone if i do a manual sync. Is there a setting that i can check somewhere that may have gotten switched off somewhere?

IIRC, the settings are under Menu/Settings/Accounts & Sync. What's it set to?

Both auto-sync and background sync are checked - and my gmail account has a green sync icon next to it.

This is one of several problems I'm having. I was in the Verizon store for almost 2 hours and they could not get it to sync.

Sometimes a simple power on/off will fix the problem. Worked for me.

I had this problem quit a bit. I found two solutions. First is to use the free mail app K9. I never once had am issue with gmail failing to push sync. The other is to use an alternative to google's exchange server. Im using NuevaSync - Push Email and Over-the-Air Synchronization for Your iPhone. I will post instructions on how to set it up. For now I have a video on my blog with instructions on setting it up.
