[Gmail notification help]

If I read a gmail on a different device after getting a notification, the email icon/badge won't dissapear unless I go into the gmail inbox on my phone. I found a million google forum threads for this, with no resolution. Any thoughts?

I have a brand new S6 running lollipop.

Use IMAP not POP.

Can you explain that a little bit more?

when just using the phone, do you get new emails on time? (ie is sync running correctly?) is this happening when the phone is on wifi or 3g/4g?

Yes, I get new emails right away. So I don't think it's a sync issue. Happens on both Wifi/mobile network.

Also, to address the above, the phone is already set to IMAP. All S6 are, so not sure why that was included.
