Gmail Priority Inbox

Newbie
Hello,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II LTE on Rogers Wireless in Ontario, Canada. I have my email setup with gmail. I have 2 questions:

1. I'm sure most gmail users are familiar with priority inbox where it shows all your important emails in one place and non important email like newsletters and such at the bottom. I wanna make it so my phone only loads my important emails to my phone and just ignores anything that is not priority inbox. Is there a way to do so and how can I accomplish this?

2. On my phone there are 2 email clients. One gmail one and then another generic email client. Is there any use/point in keeping the generic client? Its frustrating getting notification for every email I receive twice. I was wondering if other ppl have the same problem and what would be a solution?

Thanks!

Hey zero260!

Although I don't have your phone, I believe I may have an answer for you for (at least) one of your questions...

When you are in the gmail app, can you see at the top left hand side, there is a button that should say "Inbox" with a number in brackets? If you tap the button, you get a list... one of which is Priority Inbox and one of which is "Important" (amongst others).

When you have selected the right one for you, you can exit the gmail app using your home button and, each time you go in to the gmail app, it will go in with the same selection.

As for the second question... I have never used the other email client on my Desire HD... I am not 100% sure if I understand what you mean... it sounds like you are getting a notification from your gmail account AND then a notification of the same email from the generic email client for the same email... could you clarify?

To stop the double notifications either open tIhe email app and press menu, more, account settings. Then you can turn off notifications. You could also clear data for the email app which should wipe the account out of the app. There's probably a way to remove the account within the app but I can't find it. Never used it before now, just thought I'd have a look though

If you have 2 emails account giving you the same emails, just delete one of them.

Go to the email. Go to All inbox by tapping on the top left hand box indicating which email account it is. You will see a list of email accounts. Long press on one of them and select delete account.
