Hey there bocasthunder, first off welcome to the forums

I am sorry your issue has not been addressed until now, and also your thread has been moved into the Nexus 7 forum.

To try and answer your question, when you go into the gmail app and go into an email there should be a reply arrow to the right of the "star" icon, is it greyed out or something?

More info on this issue would be great!
