Gmail Refresh rate?

Is anyone noticing no ryhme or reason as to when gmail syncs?

Im getting a long delay sometimes. I am hooked up to wi fi at work, but have low cell signal in this area.

I looked for a setting to change sync time but didnt find one.

any thoughts?

I have found the Google apps to lose sync. when I flipped to Wi-Fi and back to mobile data.

If I stayed on mobile data, there was never a sync. issue.

Yes, the GMail, Google Calendar and Contacts are all pushed, but for me they "missed" on Wi-Fi and I had to resync. once on mobile data again.

I've found that emails show up on my phone before they show up on my PC, but I rarely go over to WiFi

Hit or miss, sometimes hits the phone first, sometimes phone has a 2-3 min delay without manually refreshing. Not sure the push is working as it should...

Same thing was happening to me. It was suggested somewhere that you need to check the boxes to unsync all of your accounts and turn off the phone power. Power it back up and resync. I did this and the Droid is now beating my BB by 2 seconds consistently. I've had no problems since I did this.

For me, it usually hits my phone first. Sometimes it does hit the PC first but never by more than 15 seconds either way.

@cgf Your suggestion of turning off syn, rebooting and then enabling sync worked like a charm. For some odd reason my phone had decided to sync at 2am or 6am or just when ever it so felt like it.

@munkis having an email client checking yer email doesn't appear to have an effect on the push.

Not sure why wifi would mess it all up, but I can say that I have always gotten email on my G1 and now DROID way before on my PC.

Im defintly having some sort of issue, I just checked my gmail, and emails that were sent over 2 hours didnt show up on my phone. I had to turn sync off and sync back on, then they showed up.

I have 3 gmail accounts linked and they all seem to have this problem..

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Just want to confirm that this fix has worked for me, as well.

@Hyperdyne how long did that fix work? for me it seemed like all of 12 hours.

others have mentioned uninstalling the advanced task kill helped them [here]. I've tried both of them and seem to have had better luck since removing that app. I've also stopped killing the google talk service, dunno if that has anything to do with it... but it seems to make sense.

I'm having the exact same issue. Let me know if you figure out a way to fix this as a 3 hour delay isn't what I was looking for.

Yeah, the uncheck all syncs, power down, then power up and recheck all syncs only lasted for about 12 hours, unfortunately.
