Gmail Spamed Contact

In the middle of the night a bunch of my contacts were spammed via my gmail account and I'm guessing it came from my phone.
At the same time of 3:22 am a bunch of people received a text message or email from me that in the subject had a person's name and the body had a website address of various sites, different in each.

I can't find a sent box on my phone for gmail or text messages but I do see the sent messages online with my gmail account.

Any thoughts as what to do next???

I just had the same thing happen to me two days ago! Really weird... I had just downloaded an unread gmail app before it happened. I thought it might be that so I deleted it and changed my password. Did you happen to remember any apps you downloaded just prior to this happening?

The only thing I can think I was on the internet trying to download a apk file for fios mobile since its not listed in the market place due to 2.1 on my Eris. Lots of run around websites. I downloaded a rar file but did not open it.
