Root gmail stopped syncing with cloud

MacFett

I have 4 gmail accounts on my phone, the one that is tied to my market account has stopped updating, at least my email. I get new email, but once I read and delete an email on the phone it doesn't update the gmail itself.

I have logged in via chrome, firefox 3.6 and 7.0 and Opera. The web interface displays 44 unread messages, gmail app shows 5 until I refresh or go to the account view then it displays 44, but search is:unread only shows 5.

I have tested my only other account with an unread email and it updated fine.

I am running BACKside CM7 08312011 with the newest gapps.

I was just coming here to inquire about the same thing. Not getting updates about new emails.

Actually, I hate this version of Gmail from the Market. It doesn't work with MissedIt (paid app), and all of the options are gone (can't set a signature, can't set notification tones). How does one go about getting an older version?

I just did a titanium backup to the previous version, still doesn't seem to be working. Going to install one of my older back ups next.

[edit]I take that back, 2.3.5 is working. Hopefully they'll fix whatever broke in 2.3.5.1 I'll post the apk to my drop box if you want it NNF.[/edit]

Its still there, they just hid it. Open gmail, hit the menu button, select more, select settings, select the account, and it will open a new screen with all those settings. To set the notification tone scroll all the way to the bottom and select labels to notify. You can have different settings for each of your gmail accounts. I have a work and personal account with different tones and signatures.

Wow... they really did hide those settings good. I would of never thought to tap on that for more settings. I honestly have to wonder why they would put them in such a silly place. Thanks for showing me where they were!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

That wasn't the right version. :(

I found it (2.3.2) here on the XDA forums. :D

Now MissedIt is misbehaving. It won't show up on the damn Gadgets list (you have to uninstall it then reinstall it to get it to work with Gmail 2.3.2). I really do love that app once it's sitting on the desktop, but it's the biggest pain in the ass paid app I've ever seen.

I figured it out (the crap i went though to figure out this silly thing lol). Open Accounts and Sync Settings - tap on the sync icon sitting to the right of the email address that isn't syncing. Tick the box for Syn Gmail and watch your emails come in.

This was one of those "OMFG DUH!" moments.

Mine were coming in, but once I deleted them or read them it wasn't reflecting on the server.

This has started again. I've been using 2.3.2 and just tried to update to 2.3.5.2 but getting the device full error I've been having. Really makes trying to update apps fun. Guess it is time to do a clean install of the newest build of BACKside.

Clearing my data for gmail seems to have done the trick. I think that is why it worked when I changed versions, I always force stop, clear cache, clear data, uninstall. Now if I could figure out how to get it to start updating and installing apps again.
